Happy 4th...

For the 4th... we traditionally head to Port Jefferson for the annual parade. This year, despite the sprinkles, we trekked downtown. Below Richard and Gretchen are staying dry under a tree. I was so excited because Christopher attended his 1st parade in Port Jefferson... his new hometown!
Phil and Jill...
Here come the bagpipers. My favorite :)
A little loud for Christophers little ears.
Pop...
Here come the girls... they had the privilege of riding on PJFD's antique truck.

Here is our crowd

The Town of Brookhaven Highway Department float.

Here comes Setauket!

Beach Swimming Lessons...

Last week and this coming week the girls are taking group swimming lessons at West Meadow Beach through Brookhaven Town. It is a half hour lesson everyday for 2 weeks. They are having lots of fun, because their cousins and a bunch of their friends are also signed up. Here are some pics from last week... we hung around for a few hours after the lesson.

The past week....

Last Thursday was the last day of school! Here are the girls waiting for the bus the morning of the last day. Allison peeking out...
That night was special. Sarah Hubbard (the beloved babysitter) was going to Prom. One of the big thing for Ward Melville is "entering" Prom. The create a total red carpet atmosphere... and some of the students get really creative with the vehicles they arrive in. Sarah and her date took a firetruck to the prom. It sounds weird, but its not.... Sarah's dad Jimmy passed away last November after battling pancreatic cancer. He was an active member of the Fire Department and a current fire Commissioner.... he is sorely missed.
Here is Sarah and girlies (they adore her) Katie didn't get to close, I think she thought she would mess up her dress.
Sarah and her date Ryan.
Beautiful :)
They met at Station 2 and took Ladder 2 to the Prom, Station 1 also wanted to participate... so she had 2 trucks (Engine 8 brought the manpower!)

I was really lucky... I went to watch the arrivals with Cindy (Sarah's Mom). She was on Prom committee and had 2 tickets for the reserved bleachers. It was my first time, and I had soooooo much fun. The school is tranformed inside and out!

I know its hard to see, but this man is 87 ( I think) years old and he is graduating with the class of 2008! Here he is arriving at the Prom!
here come the trucks, first Engine 8... followed by Ladder 2

They had members create an Honor Guard for her... It was pretty moving.

as she exits the truck :)
Smile for the cameras Sarah:) Today she graduated! Congratulations Sarah! We love You!
Today we were invited to Katie's friends Baptism.... They are mormon, so they actually do not get baptised until they choose to. I was honored to be invited to share this very special day with their family. After the service, the girls enjoyed some refreshments...
Congratulations Hannah!
